Stateham Chapter One The Ballard County jail side door banged open with a metallic crash, spearing the pre-dawn darkness with a shaft of white. The blistering slash of eye-watering light rudely split the hot Texas air of a coming dawn. For a second or two nothing happened. The seconds ticked by in silence. At this time of the morning, just before dawn, the air was absolutely...
Yonder Come The Blues by Ricky Bush

The Rolling Stones laid down that low down, gut bucket version of Willie Dixon’s “Little Red Rooster” in 1964 and turned a generation of American teenagers onto the blues from their own backyard. Recently though we've noticed submissions from women have dropped back to about 10-15% of all the submissions we receive and the gender...

I first met Ian via the online writing community a decade or so ago. I was writing a fair number of short stories for e-zines, but Ian was an absolute machine, producing new ones seemingly every single day. I think most of thought we were clinging to his coattails, but getting into print together, via the incredible Radgepacket series from Andy Rivers and the much-missed Byker Books was a real thrill. I got there first with my debut Joe Geraghty novel, so it really meant something when Ian said some incredibly kind things about it, a genuine boost that someone...
