In 2016 when Fahrenheit was in the first flush of youth (and full of optimism) we decided to launch Noirville (a compilation of the best Noir stories we could find).
We received literally hundreds of submissions and the panel of judges really had their work cut out to whittle them down to the 20 or so stories we needed for the anthology. Each judge scored every story individually (completely blind, all the stories had been anonymised). When we came to look at the scores we were a little amazed by the results - one (previously unpublished) author had entered 2 stories (totally within the rules) and EVERY SINGLE JUDGE HAD GIVEN HIM FULL MARKS FOR BOTH STORIES - though obviously they had no way of knowing that at the time.
That author’s name was RUSSELL DAY and since then he has gone on to publish 4 BOOKS with us, an unprecedented 3 Fahrenzines, and then just for fun he entered and won the hugely prestigious Crime Writers’ Association Margery Allingham Short Story Prize.
When Russ got in touch with us and asked us if we would look after the ENTIRE ARCHIVE OF SHORT STORIES he’s written over the years - almost all of them previously unseen and unpublished - we jumped at the opportunity.
In Blood, Sweat & Alibis, we pull together a treasure trove of Short Stories stretching across the entire breadth of Russell’s writing career (almost all of which have never been seen before) - ranging through all of life's most important themes; food, family, revenge, and the just plain weird.
This collection will inspire, delight & surprise you as one of the most talented short story writers in the world gives his extraordinary imagination free rein.
