The Captain's Club : Jackie Swift
“A brilliantly written romp.”
Lola Jones is back in her second adventure.
Lola still hasn’t quite managed to put that murky business with Daniel Blain behind her even as she finds herself running the substantial endowment fund for St Luke’s he left in his will.
The senior staff at the school aren’t entirely sure how they feel about Lola's elevation though very quickly they have other matters to distract them.
Several of the boys in the school rowing squad have suffered quite serious accidents. Separately they seem to be just boys being boys - but Lola has a feeling that something more sinister is going on - a feeling that’s proved right when a boy is murdered and all the evidence points to a serial killer who’s most likely someone connected to the school.
In typical Lola fashion, she throws caution to the winds, channels her inner Miss Marple and determines to get to the bottom of things.
What could possibly go wrong?
“Lola Jones is one of the most refreshing characters I’ve come across in crime fiction for quite some time.”
